"Shanghai ecological model project" is located on Shenfu Road, No. 568, in Shanghai. The project was completed on October, 2004, consisting of an office building, multi-storey residential apartments and stand-alone houses.

The project addresses Shanghai’s high temperature in summer and coldness in winter with humid climate, as well as tacking high living density residence, lack of energy resources and other climatic, energetic, cultural background and current problems of high energy consumption, high pollution and low quality. The project is a pioneering model in China to launch the innovative practice of ecological architecture, proposing and explaining the architectural concept of "energy saving, resource saving, environmental protection and people-oriented." The project learnt from the traditional courtyard lighting, natural ventilation, and ecological approach such as water landscape, as well as innovatively integrate and implement “ultra-low power envelope, solar energy, wind energy, geothermal and other renewable energy, independent heat and moisture air conditioning, 3R building materials, reuse of rain water and other resources, the environmental intelligent monitoring” and other key technologies, and eventually built a model of international advanced level project.

The exhibition emphasizes participation, experimental approach and humal appeal, presenting a trip about residential technology with clues of past, present and future.
